This test is useful to verify CAN and SAE J1708 communications protocols.
- If your vehicle communicates through CAN and/or J1708 and you are unable to connect to with Jaltest, make sure you run this communication test to ensure proper connection is stablished before attempting to connect.
- See the pictures below to know how to run a COMMUNICATIONS TEST in Jaltest.
1. Access the Preferences Menu and click "Jaltest link".
2. Verify you have the proper voltage from the vehicle (12V/ 24V). Make sure your vehicle provides enough voltage to power the system.
3. Select Communication bus test, enter the run test time, and select the communication type (Can Bus test or SAE J1708 test).
- There should be some communication channels available, if after the test the result are "No communication channel found". Make sure you get enough voltage from the system to power the ECU.
- Check the fuses.
- Check the diagnostics port in the vehicle, look for oversized pins, loose wires, etc.
